Tipping The Mental Scale

Best-love-ever

Our minds are inquisitive. They like to peek into the unknown dark and disturbing elements. I have wondered why we sometimes do the things we do. The BTK killer confessed on the day of sentencing he was not a monster, but was rather possessed by monsters that made him do those horrible murders and sadistic sexual acts. Chillingly he admitted he should not be excused for his grim acts. He must rot in hell with the demons that made him do it.

I have wondered that if we were to ask ourselves the question are we any different from the BTK killer? Frighteningly I believe we will discover we are not; in many ways. For certain we may not act out all the thoughts that pass through our minds on a daily basis. But just suppose for a second we did perform some of thoughts that pass through our minds, like kill all those we hate, torture the criminals, abandon our homes, strangle our spouses and even children…Hold a minute. We don’t think such thoughts…Then again we do!!! Chilling, eh?

It was that last time, about a week ago, when you boyfriend cheated on you and you start to hyperventilate and this strong urge to kill made you tremble in rage. What the hell were you thinking, eh? You wanted to kill though, but fortunately you got over that feeling. What about when you were called names and embarrassed in front of your friends by that nincompoop, eh? What did you feel like doing? Injure but not kill. Why didn’t we? We exercise restraint and self-control that is what happened, yeah.

We explore possibilities. Dark possibilities. Our sanity hangs on fragile strands like hair that can snap with the least bit of pressure. Did you not read that over 50 % of the population in the great United States of America is mentally sick? Are we exempted? So what should we do to stay in check? How do we keep our sanity? How do we keep ourselves from crossing over that line of the mentally ill?

Look around you. Are you sure you are not surrounded by mentally sick people? That woman living alone when she can have a man, but is afraid the man will rob her, when in fact there is not much that she has. That guy walking down the road and laughing, and you wonder what was the joke?
