The Guyana Government has long now been recognized as being impotent when it comes to handling crime which has claimed the lives of untold numbers of innocent Guyanese, at the hands of brutal criminals.

As the substantive new Home Affairs Minister, Ms Teixeira needs to understand very quickly that the besieged businessman/woman and ordinary citizen are completely fed up with the ineffective approach by this government and preceding PPP/C administrations to policing and security issues. This approach has recently been cloaked in the trappings of promises to enhance community policing and to introduce neighbourhood policing along with a grand crime plan. If it is anything like its predecessors then it won't amount to much and Ms Teixeira would have been left in the starting blocks long after the gun had been fired.
We are completely fed up with the police inability to peform effectively. Every police seems to lack intelligence and even common sense when it comes to stemming crime or even solving a crime.
What must we do to get a change?
