Attempts To Overthrow Legitimate Government

Guyana Government Threatened

Sources claimed that the opposition has the weapons and personnel to overthrow the official elected PPP/C government in Guyana, a small country north of Brazil on the South American continent. Most of the weapons and gunment are observed to be hanging out in the "gulf" in south Buxton a notorious village on the East Coast of Demerara. Police and the army have failed so far to rid the country of these criminals hiding out in the backlands. The criminals have however not failed to strike with deadly precision on a regular basis. In a brazen attempt of show of force last week the criminals took over the dead body of controversial talk show host Ronald Waddell and took him into the gulf whilst the police looked on helplessly.

With elections imminent, fear has gripped every community with the possibility that the PNC/R will attempt to first destabilize the country then attempt to seize power illegally. Sources further claimed the PPP/C government is appealing to the USA and Great Britain for intervention in the event of any such action.

So far the PNC/R has been drumming up confusion by attacking the election commission. A few years back the opposition supporters turned on one of its own party commissioner and beat him mercilessly in Sophia for declaring the election free and fair. Tension is stifling in Guyana.

Lets pray for peace and hope the politicians will put Guyana first.

Society's Most Important Unit - The Family

The Family - Part 1

No doubt the family is the pillar of every community. Years ago in Industry, a small East Coast Demerara village, Haitram Samaroo the pastor of the local Assembly of God church, used to emphasize the importance of the family for a wholesome, safe and prosperous society. Gesturing with his hands in the air for emphasis he used to say, "God created the family. It is the smallest and most important unit in every society. When the family breaks down, the whole society breaks down!" He was right!

Today after more than twenty years this maxim still holds true. Our psychologists and social commentators have come to realized that the family is the cement that holds our society together and makes it a safe, progressive, prosperous and a well developed place that we can all enjoy a better life in.

What is the definition of the word "family"? The New Collins Concise English Dictionary defines the family as "a primary social group consisting of parents and their offspring." In Cummings Lodge High School in the Social Studies class, I learnt among the different types of family that the "nuclear family" "consist of a man, his wife and children." My own concept of the family is that God intended for a man, his wife and children to live as a unit. The role of the husband would be to "love, cherish, protect and provide for his wife and kids." The role of the wife would be to "to love, obey and care for the husband and kids." In today's modern world where many of these roles has been reversed if not obliterated and where in order to survive the wife has to work also, it is difficult to fulfill these spousal reponsibilities. However the roles can be fulfilled if sacrifices are made in the spirit of love, understanding and compromises. The strong solid surviving families today knows this fully well.

What else is reponsible for the breakdown of the family unit? And why has the family been targeted so heavily till it has reached the point of annilhilation? What can be done to revive family units, family values and family cultures? Many of the answers to these questions are very controversial, however we can still look at some of them.

The culture of feminism has taken away the dependency of women on men. An independent woman feels she has little if any need for a man in her life. So not only a new culture of singleness is propagated but an easy separation of husband and wife for any little conflict these days. I am not sure if this culture of feminism has also allowed for lesbinism and gay practices to creep into our society and has resulted in even a further obliteration of the family unit as we had known it to be.

Lack of family time can be a major factor in the breakdown of a family unit. Many of us are guilty of being too busy to spend time with our family regularly. Family time we know build bonds that strenghtens relationships. More time together stronger the bond.

Casual sex might be a major contributor to the destruction of the family. The hypocrisy behind casual sex is that it is okay, yet none of the propogators of this theory wants his or her spouse to have sex with another person. Adultery is in direct contravention of God's command. Fornication makes it easier for a promiscous life style. Faithfulness has been the pillar of solid families.

This is all for now. To be con't'd.

Pride, Integrity and Honesty

OUR CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES

I ordered a skype telephone online to allow better quality communication over the internet here in the British Virgin Islands. After more than a month the phone, unfortunately did not arrive. So I decided to call the seller with whom the order was placed and enquired about the long delay in receiving my order. I was told to give it a couple more of days and see if it will turn up. To make a long story short the seller had to resend the phone but this time via UPS. I did recieve the UPS delivery of the skype phone under five days. But the first phone shipped from England was lost!

Around October/November, First Bank sent me two credits cards. After three weeks had gone and I did not recieve the cards I called customers services in St. Thomas and was assured another set of credit cards would be issued. After two more weeks elapsed I called First Bank Credit Card department again informing them that I did not receive the cards they had sent. I then requested them to cancel my credit cards and issue new ones. This time I also insisted they sent my cards directly to the local Bank in the BVI, where I could go and picked them up. About three days later I went to First Bank and collected the credit cards. Eventually about two weeks later one set of the old credit cards did arrive and I had to discard them.

Is it the postal service to be blamed? Are the workers dissatisfied and has resorted to improper conduct? Were the items stolen before arrival in BVI? The BVI had always had a reputation for mannerly and honest people. From my experience with BVI islanders they are very courteous and they take pride in this. Most likely it might have been St. Thomas.where my stuff were lost.

So this brings me to my real concerns with my native country. And I would like to ask my native country people where is our self pride, our integrity, our honesty that has characterised us for so many years. Our people have had a reputation for instance of being the most hospitable in the world. We treat foreigners as semi gods. So I called upon you my brethren to instill VALUES of integrity, honesty, uprigtness in our children. Let us and our children take pride in the fact we have a reputation as a people of decency who respect others, who respect other people's property.

In December when I was NY on vacation I found a wallet in a car park in Binghamton. The wallet had the person SS card, credit cards, and cash inside. The first thing I did was to to take it to the attendant at the parking lot and ask her to return it to the owner. I hope she did!

Only a godly heritage will compel us to do the right thing. Perhaps personal pride in being honest will also help us to act righteously. So my friends begin in your homes. Lay the right foundation. If your kids bring home something that does not belong to them, let them take it back immediately or the next day. DON'T ACCEPT IT. Kill the monster before it grows and possesses you and your generations to come.

Let us work to together and build a safer and better Guyana.

PARANOID

Hold Your Brakes!!!

I was on my way home to lunch today when a driver coming out of a cross street to the right of me got so paranoid from waiting due to the slowness of the traffic, that he floored his accelerator in anger and spun out of control and slammed into another vehicle which was just behind me. Whew! That was close. He lost it when a few more seconds could have avoided a long drawn out conflict with the person whose vehicle he jammed and the police. To make matters worst he sped off! The other driver whose vehicle he slammed into got out of his vehicle and chased after him. I watched the chaos behind me out of my rear view mirror.

Many of us today must be wondering what has really drove us as human beings to this level of insanity. A study has found there are MORE mentally ill persons than those of a sound mind. That is crazy! Maybe the person who did the study is one of them too. What do we do? Imagine a retard running a country, an army, phew!

So take it light. One day at a time. You will get there. Hold your horse. In time you will get where ever you are going! Good luck.

IS IT REALLY TRUE?

PNC BACKS PPP in GUYANA's DEVELOPMENT

In a schocking turn of events sources claimed the opposition party the PNC in Guyana is backing the broad base PPP government in putting Guyana first to allow for development and progress in the country. Guyana a beautiful, resource rich country on the northern tip of South America has for over ten years now been made ungovernable by the PNC and its supporters. The reason for regular demonstration, burning of buildings and killings of wealthy business owners was done in an effort to wrest power from the ruling government, but it has failed so far and western governments has insisted that democracy must be fostered if support for Guyana's fragile economy will continue.

Polls and some sources within the PNC has claimed the ruling PPP is on course for another landslide election victory. In a strange turn of events the PNC has decided to create an atmosphere for investors to come into Guyana with the hope the benefits of much needed investments will spin off to its supporters. Law and order are now being demanded by the opposition.

An official source claimed that President Bharrat Jagdeo is estatic about the olive branch held out by the PNC leader and promises to work closely with the 57 year old Robert Corbin, in order to catapult Guyana to the status of a developed country. In a close door session with the President Mr. Corbin says he hopes Guyana will change its status and becomes one of the richest country in the Caribbean and the western hemisphere generally. President Jagdeo says he and the broad base PPP government will forever be indebted to Mr. Corbin for his magnanimous and bold offer in putting the Guyanese people first and burying years of partisan politics.

Mr. Corbin has since received fierce criticism from a few of his supporters who has also threatened to wrest power from him. He however has declared Guyana needs a chance to move forward economically and politically. He adds he intends to collaborate with President Jagdeo to root out crime especially the criminals being branded "freedom fighters" who dwells in the Buxton backlands.

Guyanese everywhere are celebrating this turn of events.

Read more of this in future publications.

Things That Stress You Out!!

Stressful things.

The other night I was trying to make a phone call to Guyana and all I keep getting from the phone was, "We are sorry. All circuits are busy now! Please try your call again later. Good bye." I tried for two hours before I finally give up highly stressed out. In addition living alone can really at times get on your nerves and make stress you out, without having to deal with minor things that strings you out.

There are some other things that makes you taut like a bow: Such as when when you try to change your television channel and no matter how hard you pressed the remote, the channel would not change. (Hope you did not pelt the remote on the floor and jump on it a few times.) What about trying to start your car and it won't start.

Yeah. Yeah. I could hear some folks teeth grinding. Reading it alone stresses you out. Here are a few more things that drives you nuts and stresses you to the limit:

  1. When someone owes you and won't pay!
  2. When you call someone and the phone keeps ringing out.
  3. When you are waiting and on someone and they don't turn up on time or not at all!
  4. When you are in a line and the service provider is slow. Such as a bank line.
  5. When someone is not thankful for what you give them.
  6. When you buy something online and the item does not turn up or the wrong item turns up.
  7. What about getting lost when you are late for an important event. And the most popular one:
  8. When you know you had your key right there and now you can't find it.

So you see there enough things in this world to stress out an individual without some folks trying deliberately to make their life hell. So stay calm. Be happy. Smile. Life goes on!

The Hen - Someone sent me this enjoy!

Subject: The Hen - Inspiring story

Bryan came home from the pub late one Friday evening stinking drunk,
as he often did, and crept into bed beside his wife who was already asleep.

He gave her a peck on the cheek and fell to sleep. When he awoke he found a
strange man standing at the end of his bed wearing a long flowing
white robe. "Who the hell are you?" demanded Bryan, "and what are you
doing in my bedroom?".

The mysterious Man answered "This isn't your bedroom and I'm St Peter". Bryan was stunned "You mean I'm dead?!!! That can't be! I have so much to live for, I haven't said goodbye to my family.... you've got to send me back straight away".

St Peter replied, "Yes you can be reincarnated but there is a catch.
We can only send you back as a dog or a hen."

Bryan was devastated, but
knowing there was a farm not far from his house, he asked to be sent back
as a hen.

In a flash of light, he was covered in feathers and clucking around
pecking the ground. "This ain't so bad" he thought until he felt this strange
feeling welling up inside him.

The farmyard rooster strolled over and said "So you're the new hen, how are
you enjoying your first day here?"
"It's not so bad" replies Bryan, "but I have this strange feeling inside
like I'm about to explode".
"You're ovulating" explained the rooster, "don't tell me you've never laid
an egg before?"
"Never" replies Bryan "Well just relax and let it happen" He did, and
after a few uncomfortable seconds, an egg pops out from under his
tail.

An immense feeling of relief swept over him and his emotions got the
better of him as he experienced motherhood for the first time. When he laid
his second egg, the feeling of happiness was overwhelming and he knew that being reincarnated as a hen was the best thing that ever happened to him... ever!!!

The joy kept coming and as he was just about to lay his third egg he felt
an enormous SMACK! on the back of his head. He heard his wife screaming,
"Bryan!! Wake up you drunken bastard, you're shitting the bed!!!"

DO THE MATHS!!!

How about having three or more beautiful women, drive a fancy luxury car, and eat out daily sounds to you? I know someone who has been doing this for sometime now and I would like all you mathematicians, psychologists, financial advisors tell me how can he do that on a monthly income of $1,250.00. In addition this person has about two small kids to care for plus a personal woman. So how does he do it? Is this person a financial genius?. He has been doing this for a number of years, how is that possible?

Mind you he always owes someone for some promised item. Even though he is a monthly paid employee he portrays himself as a business man without any fixed place of business. What I further understand he burrowes from A to pay B and is always being sought after to settle a score. So is he living above his means? Is he way out of his league? What advise do you give to such person who is a regular big boy?

If there is no proper explanation to justify this large style of living it won't be too long before the law comes knocking! What you think?

Controversial Host Killed!

Talk show host Ronald Waddell was gunned down in Subryanville, Georgetown Guyana two days ago as he was about to enter his yard. In 1997 Waddell was caught on camera with a galvanized bucket trying to buy gasolene during one of the PNC street marches that resulted in several Guyanese indians' businesses being burnt down. Sources claimed he has aligned himself with known criminals, from the notorious Buxton village on the East Coast of Demerara, whom he has encouraged to kill innocent indians in the name of freedom fighting. Recently because of the nature of his call on these criminals, Waddell was pulled from the air.

Guyana one of the resource richest country in the Caribbean and South America is steeped in racial hatred as encouraged by mentally challenged politicians. Guyana is considered to be one of the poorest country in the Western Hemishere. More than 80% of its educated populace has migrated to countries all over the world. No hope seems to be on the horizon.

Though Waddell's death is unfortunate, a lot of Guyanese secretly are happy. Especially business owners and families who have suffered as a result of consistant attacks from criminals being paraded as freedom fighters. The PPP government is in the spotlight since Waddell has been a staunch attacker on his regular program on the broad base government. The PNCR the opposition party whom many Guyanese claimed has done little for its supporters are crying fowl in the direction of known politicians.

This is an election season and the killings in Guyana according to many Guyanese would continue unabated.

Pray for Guyana.

God bless Guyana.

AMAZING GRACE IN FLAMES!

I don't think this crime has been solved as yet. Almost twenty years ago a yacht called the "THE AMAZING GRACE" was blown up into smitereens in the waterfront of Tortola of the British Virgin Islands. Flames and smoke had covered the small town called Road Town at the time. The owners were out of the country at the time the boat exploded. According to some sources the bank was owed large sums of money.

Some unanswered questions are: Why was the boat blown up? Who was involved? Who benefitted from the action? Was the bank eventually paid off in full to cover its loans for the yacht?

Send your response those of you who remember.

THIEF - WHAT A SHOCK!!!

Yesterday morning whilst I was busy working in my office in Road Town, Tortola I saw an online message that popped up on my computer saying "Persaud a thief just tried to break in the house ". It was from Arifa my younger brother's wife. She was home watching television when she heard strange noises outside by the door and went to investigate. She had asked: "Who is there?" and heard footsteps running down the stairs. Immediately she became terrified and her heart took a huge sommersault causing her breath to shut off. She had then ran to the phone in the living room on rubbery legs and called her husband fumbling the words out with choking gasps. Tears peeled down her cheeks as she tried explaining to him her experience. Then she had sent an online message immediately afterwards to me at the office.

I could not believe what I was hearing. Yet I knew it was true. In December I had bought 3 desktop computers with flat panels from Dell Computer, Inc for our Law Firm. On opening one of the boxes that was well sealed I discovered a large rock inside. Eyes popped out from their sockets as other staff memebers stared in disbelief. Not Tortola! It had to be Puerto Rico. But really, a thief in Pasea Estate in Road Town in high daylight was hard to swallow. How strange. I have been here nearly five years and never had any problems with thieves. In fact as I recalled I would normally leave my car unlocked with the keys in the ignition and go about a few errands and return to find my car the way I left it. On a few occassions I even left my house door unlocked and never lost anything. Now I realized I had to be more careful.

Whilst I was pondering on these thoughts the telephone rang. It was my brother. His invoice carried an urgency, "Persaud a thief tried to break in here just now. Come home now!'
"Arifa told me." I responded.
"We got to do something about this!"
What can we do I wondered quickly in my mind. Then without realizing I said aloud , "Come home for what though?" I realized that was rude and amended quickly, "Call the Police."
"Arifa called the police already. They are on there way."
"Alright I am coming home in a while."

So I went home. Arifa my brother's wife was trembling and crying in the embrace of my brother. Both trying to blurt out what happened. They were standing outside the house in the corridor leading to the front door of the house. This was her first experience with a thief. She was deadly afraid. It was kind of amusing to me.

As we talked Robin my brother claimed he passed the thief on his way home through Pasea Estate opposite the Totola Sports Club and that the thief raised his hand in acknowledgement as a friend would normally do. And he raised back his hands in acknowledgement having a close look at the person not realizing it was the thief.

"What did the man looked like?' I asked.
"A rasta man with dreadlocks. He had on a red T shirt and blue jeans. " Robin answered.
"What did you do when you saw him?"
"I was driving fast and at the same time trying to observe the faces of those going out the street."
"I saw him from the window by the fridge." Arifa cut in. " He was trying too climb up the rock at the back of the house. He had on a red shirt."

After a few minutes a police officer finally arrive with a tiny notebook and pen as if ready to write even before asking a single question. I found it amusing when he asked "did you see the criminal teeth?' I wonder if he thought "the criminal would be smiling whilst going down the street". The cop conclusion, "we can't do anything. We did not find him on your promise. What we can do however is to warn him when we see him." Again I guess he knew the criminal. He did however caution us to secure our premise more than we had it before.

After a while I just went back to work.

The experiences that I have shared with you about my early childhood days I shared with my kids and they got more and more interested in my early life. They could not believe life was so hard in Guyana and the level of poverty that I grew up in was really true. But now as I illustrate each story they began to take studying seriously.

In addition I have bought endless books, some of which might be unneccessary for my children. Yet I believe that if they study these texts and work through the various questions and answers they will excel. So far both have been on the honor roll. I just hope they keep at it.
