Has President GW Bush entangled himself and the United States in two wars(Afghanistan & Iraq) to the extent that he cannot unentangle himself without a loss cause and much shame? Most folks seems to think so. George W Bush don't seem to have any idea how he can extricate the United States without loosing face around the world. He knows many nations including France and the Arab countries in general would heap tons of scorn and redicule on him for being a looser.
About four years a ago when I was defending GWB a former minister from a small Caribbean Territory said indignantly "Bush is a fool." This is hard to argue against today. Back then I tried valiantly to defend him, on the grounds we need a sherriff to tackle the terrorists that were running wild globally.
Getting back to the wars however, one must try to understand the culture of the moslems fanatics with respect to death and this should be studied carefully before one should attempt to engage in warfare with them. History has shown that many battles have been fought in these arabs lands. Bush seems totally focused on the war on terror without considering any long term enagagement consequences.
Eventually it would be a sad day when the United States finally tuck tail and runs away from yet what would be termed another defeat. The real cost of loosing would be the innocent lives lost for which no price tag can be determined. Their blood shed for a lost cause.
GWB in the mean time will retire like former president Bill Clinton, but unlike BC, GWB will be repeating himself of "his convictions" to choice crowds. The democrats, more than likely to win the next election, will be the ones entrusted with disengaging the US from two wars. We will have to wait and see.
Sometimes getting into trouble is easy, but getting out is like trying to climb out of a well on a greasy pole. From every indication things are getting really messy in Afghanistan and Iraq and there is no evidence of any improvement to come. So the best bet would be to leave NOW, lick whatever wounds are there, and bail out, like a pilot whose airplane is going down.
It is braver to make a tough decision to retreat than to persist and loose innocent lives when there is no victory in sight.
